Module 6: Intergenerational Trauma

Overview

Module 6 examines the history and ongoing effects of colonialism on Inuit communities, focusing on how key historical events have contributed to experiences of intergenerational trauma. Participants will explore the impacts of these actions on Inuit culture and identity. While this module focuses on understanding these historical and ongoing challenges, Module 7 will delve into the process of healing and reconciliation, examining how Inuit communities are working to reclaim and revitalize their cultural heritage.

By the end of this module, participants will have a broad understanding of the historical and contemporary challenges stemming from colonial influences. This knowledge will equip participants to better support Inuit communities as they address the impacts of intergenerational trauma within their work.
